Who is the Next Chapter Event for?
It is for anyone facing a life change that involves their home. That includes downsizing, retirement, moving to a smaller or easier home, or helping a parent or loved one plan for what comes next.
These changes bring a lot of emotion and a lot of questions. The morning is meant to answer those questions in one relaxed setting, with time to ask the presenters directly. You are welcome to bring a family member, since these decisions are often made together.
What will the real estate session cover?
Jess Kayhart and Seth Tully of Castle Rock Realty will walk through preparing to sell and downsize. The focus is on selling with confidence and having the right people by your side.
Selling a longtime home is different from any other sale. Expect practical guidance on what to do first, how the process unfolds, and how to keep you and your family informed at every step so nothing comes as a surprise.
What will the legal planning session cover?
Eric Johnson of Curran Law Office will explain estate planning, including how to protect your home and your wishes and how to avoid probate.
This is general information to help you understand your options. For advice on your own situation, plan to meet with your attorney afterward. Many people find the seminar a good way to arrive at that meeting with better questions.
What local resources will the ADRC share?
Gina Laack and Nickie Preuss of the ADRC of Juneau County, the Aging and Disability Resource Center, will cover the support and services available for aging well in Juneau County.
The ADRC is a good first call for questions about local services and support options. Bring your questions; this is a chance to ask them face to face.
Why plan before you need to?
A plan made early is a gift to your family, planned today. Decisions about a home, legal documents and care are easier to make calmly and ahead of time than in the middle of a crisis.
Planning ahead also gives you more choices. You decide what happens with your home and your wishes, rather than leaving those decisions to someone else later.
Where should I park?
The seminar is on the lower level of Hatch Public Library. The easiest way in is to park behind the library and use the back door by the water, which opens onto the lower level.
